The various award categories are listed below. Please read the parameters below and review the full eligibility criteria before you apply, to ensure that you are eligible. You are welcome to apply for as many awards as you like!

BUILDING AWARDS
Best Commercial Project – Under $7 million
Best Commercial Project – Over $7 million
This category, broken into two (2) awards by budget, is intended to recognize outstanding commerical projects, such as office buildings, shopping centers, entertainment complexes, financial centers, and even residential condominiums.
Best Industrial/Institutional Project – Under $7 million
Best Industrial/Institutional Project – Over $7 million
This category, broken into two (2) awards by budget, is intended to recognize outstanding non-commercial projects, such as work done on university or medical campuses, religious buildings and/or buildings for public use (e.g., libraries or museums), and projects in the manufacturing or industrial sectors.
Best Historic Preservation Project
This award is intended to recognize a project which has preserved or restored a historic structure and/or landscape component that is significant in American history, architecture, or culture, and was constructed more than 50 years ago. Projects entered in this category could include the restoration of original paint schemes, re-creation of damaged building elements, and/or preservation of existing elements to prevent further deterioration.
Best Adaptive Re-Use Project
This award is intended to recognize a project that transformed an existing building and/or space to create an entirely new use for said space. For example, projects in this category could include everything from the large-scale rehabilitation of a historic building for a new purpose, to a smaller-scale installation of new HVAC systems in the existing framework of a historic building.
Excellence in Craftsmanship
This award is intended to recognize a project that has demonstrated the higest level of modern craftsmanship — including exceptional care in detail, utilization of new or alternative materials and technologies, and/or the coordination of intricate building techniques. Projects entered in this category could also include craftmanship work that utilized historic techniques, tools, and/or materials.
Best Specialty Contractor
This award is intended to recognize a sub-contractor who has done an outstanding job in the workplace. A winner may have, for example, overcome a unique challenge, tackled a difficult project, taken great care in details, and/or ensured the success of a larger project.
Best Design Build Project
This award is intended to recognize a project which demonstrates successful application of design-build principles including, but not limited to, interdisciplinary collaboration in the early stages of the project, and the acceptance of single-entity risk. Projects should exemplify the principles of interdisciplinary teamwork, innovation, and problem solving that characterize design-build delivery.
THE SAFETY EXCELLENCE AWARD
The winner of this award will be a unique general contractor and/or subcontractor firm that the GBCA Safety Committee recognizes to hold the highest level of safety standards for their employees and others with whom they work. The recipient organization will have proven to be successful in promoting safety within its company and throughout the industry.
THE COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY AWARD
The winner of the Commitment to Diversity Award will be a firm that has been determined to be charting a proactive course in the construction industry for the inclusion of minorities, women, and those with disabilities. This award will highlight this forward-thinking organization and express the CEA’s appreciation of its dedication to diversity.
